For a safe drive, the Mercedes-Benz safety concept supports you using many different measures:
The control and display system, for example, helps reduce distractions. Then there are systems which are designed to alert and assist the driver in critical situations. These include the ADAPTIVE BRAKE braking system. It has various helpful functions:

- The HOLD function: activated by the driver, this function prevents the vehicle from rolling back on a gradient;

- Dry-braking function: in wet driving conditions, brief braking impulses skim off the layer of water formed on the brake discs so that if needed the brakes can act with full effect;

- Adaptive brake lights: this shows following traffic that an emergency stop is taking place. If the driver brakes hard, fast or suddenly, then instead of the conventional brake light, a red intermittent signal lights up. And when the vehicle has come to a stop, the hazard warning lamps are switched on.
