• A pure off-roader

HCMC – For car enthusiasts who love robust looking and performing sport-utility vehicles, this is the good news: The new facelift ML350 4MATIC 2009, nicknamed “the tiger” by some, is now available in the country via the official import channel of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam.

Dr. Udo Loersch, General Director of Mercedes-Benz said: “With its strong appearance, the ML-class is attractive for those with a bold character. These customers see a lot of themselves in this SUV. What’s more, we offer the ML-class 4MATIC 2009 with standard Rear-seat entertainment system, which is technically not possible to install to US parallel import cars”.

A real adventurer at first sight

The strong front look of the ML-class facelift 2009 is made even more powerful, like that of a “crouching tiger”. The bumper is redesigned, the headlamps are re-contoured and the radiator grille is larger and more dominant. A characteristic roof rack is also installed as standard to make the premium SUV look even sportier and send a bolder statement in terms of character and presence.

A tiger with very quick pace…

The ML350 4MATIC, with a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder 272hp engine, is a real fast car on the street. With a 7-speed auto transmission, however, the acceleration feels much smoother for passengers, even if it takes only 8.4 seconds from 0 to 100km/h.

…and off-road capabilities.

The standard equipment Off-road Drive program on board the ML350 4MATIC is very helpful for drivers in off-road driving and when water-fording. In these situations it combines the safety features of ABS, ESP, 4ETS, and adjusts the engine’s performance and gear-shifting characteristics.

In addition, two important off-road systems available on the ML350 4MATIC 2009 are Downhill Speed Regulation DSR for going downhill and Hill Start Assist HAS when going uphill. When you go downhill, the DSR will keep the car going at a certain speed, which can be set on the on-board computer. To do so DSR will sometimes automatically apply braking, and the steeper the downhill gradient is, the greater DSR braking effect will be on the vehicle. You can, however, always speed up more than the pre-set speed by accelerating manually or slow down by braking yourself.

When the car goes uphill, the DSR will not be activated. Instead, you have the Hill Start Assist. If you stop in the middle of your way up, when you start to go again the system will automatically brake, so as to keep the car stand still in while you move your foot from the brake pedal to the acceleration pedal. 

Interior with high-grade appointments

The interior of the new-generation off-roader has been stylishly upgraded with high-quality materials. The new ML350 2009 features a hands-free system based on Bluetooth technology, and an aux-in connection for mobile audio devices such as iPod. The occupants are also able to enjoy a surround-sound concert-hall quality with the latest generation of the sound system.

Rear-seat passengers can enjoy the Mercedes-Benz original Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) system with two 7-inch screens, an integrated DVD player, two sets of wireless headphones, and a remote control. The two screens can operate individually, allowing watching DVD and playing games at the same time.
